Audition For Our Main Season
Audition Call for Coal Bowl Queen
HEIST, Eastern Front Theatre and Ship’s Company Theatre are holding auditions for the world premiere of Coal Bowl Queen written and directed by Richie Wilcox.
Coal Bowl Queen tells the story of Roz, a queer biracial non-binary thirtysomething from
Ontario, who comes to small town New Waterford on a self-proclaimed pilgrimage looking for their birth mother. Along the journey to unravel the mystery, they soon discover that their mother was the revered 1987 Coal Bowl Queen and in order to truly know their mother they must learn all about the town’s legendary annual basketball tournament, The Coal Bowl Classic. Luckily they have local postal worker Tanya to assist them on their case. Can Roz and Tanya solve the mystery and learn the truth about Roz’s parents? Coal Bowl Queen features a community of characters sharing their stories of first kisses, dramatic reliving of basketball games, bittersweet memories of lost loves and the collective quest to belong.
